SJUMC 2009 Tournament is in the books....

This past weekend we had the SJUMC Basketball Tournament. Both Scott and Cori had a great time. Scott's team battled hard against some older teams for 3rd place but they lost in overtime by two points. All the boys played hard so they should all be proud of themselves.

Cori's team won in overtime to capture the championship for her division. The girls played like champs when the game was on the line. Cori hit a free throw with about a minute to play to put the team up by one point and Allie stole the ball to score a basket with about 28 seconds left to seal the win.

I am extremely proud of how hard the kids played. I told them they could take the week off from Smarthoops since they had been already playing everyday, with the exception of Friday, but they wanted to go.......they love to hang out in the gym and play. I guess it beats sitting at home watching tv and playing video games.

Crazy kids......

Long Time....No Blog.....

Okay, it has been way too long since I last blogged. We have been super busy with basketball tournaments every weekend. Believe it or not....I'm in Las Vegas.....again. This is my 3rd trip here this year. I shouldn't complain, this time I'm at the beautiful Venentian Hotel. This place is crazy nice...huge suites, awesome shopping, serious clubs where only young beautiful people can hang out. Old guys like me just walk past and stare....

Scott and Cori had their second tournament this past weekend. Last weekend the SBC tournament and this weekend was the SJUMC tournament. In both tournaments, the kids did GREAT! I was so proud of how hard they played.....all their hard work is paying off. This past weekend, Scott's team lost their final game in overtime by 2 points, he played tough and made the most of his chances.....Cori won her final game in overtime by 1 point, she hit a clutch free throw with a few seconds left on the clock to help seal the win. I was proud of both of them....

So my wife is a single mother again but I've been traveling so much, she is used to it. Hopefully I'll have some tournament pics to add to the blog very soon. I'll try not to let so much time pass in between entries.....

Pack 611 - Final Blue and Gold Dinner

This past Saturday, we had our Pack / Troop 611 Blue and Gold dinner. For those non-scouters out there....the B&G dinner is held every year to celebrate the anniversary of scouting in the US. This year is my last with Pack 611......since Scott will be moving over to Troop 50 in Sac next year as a Boy Scout, we will no longer be involved with 611. It made me kind of sad since all the boys that Scott has been involved with in scouting for the past 5 years are all boys he has grown up with since pre-school. The bright spot is, with basketball and church activities, the chances are very high that Scott will continue to see these boys throughout the year at various functions. I'm just glad that I had the opportunity to be a part of Pack 611 both as a scout and as a leader......
